The Team

Asheli S. Atkins, MBA is a business consultant and Ph.D. candidate at Texas A&M University with a substantial knowledge base in the areas of race, ethnicity and African American entrepreneurship. With relationships with the Greater Houston Black Chamber, Prairie View A&M University, and countless other small businesses and organizations, Asheli uses data and research to assist entrepreneurs in construct and employ strategies that increase the growth and sustainability of the African American business community. She is the creator of Houston Black-Owned Businesses (@HouBlkBus) a social media platform used to highlight and inform Black entrepreneurs in the Houston area. Additionally, Asheli is a member of Houston Black Leadership Institute and the Greater Houston Black Chamber of Commerce.

Cornell England is a commercial banking professional in the Houston area with an extensive background in the financial services industry. He is passionate about helping minority-owned businesses grow in their different stages of development and has worked in commercial banking since the inception of his career, primarily with small to mid-sized corporations. Along the way, he has had the opportunity to engage with numerous successful businesses and has helped to implement the strategy to enhance their growth. With a keen eye for entrepreneurship, he launched his first business venture while in college and understands firsthand the challenges that business owners face with startups. Cornell is a member of the Greater Houston Partnership, Greater Houston Black Chamber of Commerce, Houston Food Bank Membership Committee and the Commercial Finance Association.

Warren Luckett, Chief Operating Officer for Branwar Wine Distributing Co., serves as an importer and distributor of premier international wines.  His company’s portfolio is highlighted by award-winning international wine selections. In 2016 Warren founded Houston Black Restaurant Week, a two-week celebration of the vast ethnic flavors and cultural variety black culinary professionals bring to Houston’s restaurant scene.  Black Restaurant Week expanded to Oakland/San Fransisco and Atlanta in 2017. Warren’s professional and civic affiliations include the Court of Master Sommeliers, Houston Minority Supplier Development Council, City of Houston’s, “Minority Business Enterprise”, Black Present Month and Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc. He also serves on the Board for the Greater Houston Black Chamber of Commerce.

Attucks England Consulting (AEC) is a turnkey consulting initiative that targets small business clientele. AEC provides entrepreneurs at specified stages of their business’s life cycle with the essential skills to gain not only profitability but more importantly sustainability and legitimacy, with an end goal of economic development. Our primary focus is within three areas of business:

  • Upstart includes businesses that are less than 5 years in operations as an established business.
  • Emerging is a business that has been established for more than 5 years.
  • Succession includes the more seasoned businesses that are at the point of transitioning leadership.
